Along came CAD

The Christian Academy for the Deaf (CAD) began with a recognition that Deaf and hard of hearing students are a unique and often under-served population nationally.

In 2009 Deaf Children’s Ministry was born at The Church at Tree Lake in China Spring, Texas. Students were taken by a church van 20 miles from the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf to what they consider their home church.

In 2014, Highland Baptist Church invited the ministry to join the WiN program, a wonderful after school tutoring/bible school. Highland generously gave the ministry a dedicated space located two blocks away from the students’ school allowing for access not previously available.

The vision of CAD is to build on the work of WiN to provide the best current, research-based practices to Deaf and hard of hearing students in the Waco community.

Our Hope

As the academy grows from its opening cohort of students to a multi-grade level school, our sincerest hope is that it comes to serve as a model to other communities who desire to raise up Christian leaders in the Deaf community. Less than 2% of people who are Deaf world-wide identify as Christians. We believe that the Christian Academy for the Deaf can impact the world for the Kingdom of Christ.

Give to CAD Today

We do not charge tuition for our students and instead rely on the generous support of local and national partners to make this education possible. Please consider how you can bless this ministry.
